Walk On
A crossroads, all of us come to them at various points in our lives. The road you have been traveling on comes to an end and you are faced with a decision. Some are paralyzed with fear and simply cling to what they know, refusing to move. Some look for the safest choice. Some choose the road less traveled. Those are the moments we learn something about ourselves, the moments we grow as human beings and the pivotal moments that can change our lives. Not surprisingly, they also inspire great songs.
After parting ways with her record label, Kellie knew she was facing one of those crossroads moments. She had a decision to make about what to do next. Try to take the same road again and wait for others to lead the way? Give up her dreams, pack away her talent and take the safe road? Or.... do what she did; Be strong, confident, set out on her own road and Walk On... which is the title track of her new CD.
As Wayne and Kellie started working on her album, he was finishing the last couple songs of Little Big Town's album The Road To Here. "Wayne and I wrote Why Wyoming on my first CD and I always loved that demo and working with him in the studio. So I asked him if he'd like to produce my album. After one of our writing sessions, he played me the Little Big Town album and I was blown away. Some of what I heard was just rough mixes but it was all there," Kellie said. "Wayne has this ability to tap into what makes you special as an artist and create a unique sound. What we did together is different from what he did with Little Big Town but there's a similar heart and soul that he brings to both albums that is very Wayne."
